Where Was Avi Born?
In 1937 Avi was living in New York and was raised in Brooklyn.


Where did he get his name?

Avi got his name from his little twin sister when he was about one year old.


Did he like his name?

No i hated it but it stuck.

He believes that reading is the doorway to writing.

He also said he was not a good student at all matter a fact he said to play the imagination game with him self

this is his opinion he says that you become a writer when you stop writing for your self and your teachers and start thinking about readers

And something unbelievably is that he did this when he was a senior in just high school!!

Avi says that he is not like other people that is interested in sports in recess time he just sits around reading

unbelievably he got this far when he failed all his high school coursed so his parents had to put him in a small school because he had trouble with reading and writing!

What made him write children books and not books like what Louis Lowry is that when he had kids he started writing books that his kids can read so there he is he is a nice young kids author now.
